Citrus Dill Rub
Citrus Dill Rub
About: A house blend of citrus and dill to harmoniously add flavor to a variety of dishes.
Fossil records suggest that the Citrus Genus dates back 7 million years to the Himalayan region. However, both citrus and dill were first cultivated in Egypt. The general assumption amongst historians is that citrus made its way to Egypt by way of Persia and Mesopotamia, corresponding with Alexander the Great’s campaigns in the late 4th century BC. Citrus was so coveted it became a clear status symbol of ancient nobility.
Meanwhile, dill earned its first historical mention in Egyptian medical texts circa 3000 B.C. The Ancient Egyptians not only cultivated dill for medical purposes (to soothe stomach aches) but to ward off witches as well. Together this blend of ancient spices both invigorates and soothes the senses. Use it to season salmon before grilling on a cedar plank, to flavor roasted shrimp or spice veggies! The possibilities are endless; the only limit is your imagination.
