About: Agar Agar is a vegetarian substitute for gelatin. It sets more firmly than gelatin and retains its firmness when heating. 1 teaspoon of Agar Agar equals 8 teaspoons of gelatin powder.
Agar Agar is 80% fiber and has also been used as a laxative and appetite suppressant. Its water absorbing properties aids in waste elimination.
Aroma & Taste: Tasteless and odorless.
Uses: Jams, soups, ice creams and other desserts that need to set. Agar Agar needs to be dissolved in water or liquid then heated. It sets as it cools.
- 1 tsp Agar Agar powder in 4 tbsp hot water
- Bring water to a boil
- Simmer for 1 to 5 minutes for powder
- Mix well with warmed ingredients
- Let it cool to set
